Welcome to Cajuncarver.Com! What is a Chainsaw Woodcarving Show? We wanted to take a moment and speak a little bit about our site and what it holds for you. We have been carving for 20 years now and for the last 12 years have made a nice home in Branson Missouri.WE HAVE SINCE MOVED TO OUR PERMANENT LOCATION IN DOWNTOWN ALPENA ,ARKANSAS. Since WE have started carving I have sold over 19,000 pieces.
If you’re looking for a Christmas gift for the Hog fan who has everything, consider a trip to Alpena, Ark.
There is a business carving up the perfect gift for your Arkansas fan just in time for Christmas. Co-Owner Roy Jackson likes to call it the PIG-A-TORIUM.
"We want to be known as the Hog capital of Arkansas," explains Jackson.
Alpena Chainsaw Art offers
beautiful Hogs carved by the lovely Kay Jackson. If you can dream up a
Hog for her to carve, then she’ll get to work on your creation. She
carves them up, one at a time, and one of a kind.
"Every hog is absolutely its own. I don't have a pattern. It just all
comes out of the head. Every one of them is different," says Kay.
Kay has been carving up the Hogs for 20 years now. A friend taught
her how to carve, and she's been hoggin' the spotlight ever since.
"I do mainly hogs. I do bears, eagles, wolves. I do other things,
but I do what people want me to do, and that's Hogs," says Kay.
Kay carves most of her work from Black Walnut or Red Cedar.
Roy used to carve too, but his back gave out. Now Roy makes concrete
Hogs out of a mold. You just can't keep a good Hog down or from having
a sense of humor.
"You don't act up when your wife is holding the chainsaw do you?
That is the best time to act up and that's when I do most of my
squealing. We're just calling Hogs all the time here in Alpena," says
Jackson.
